"Chicken Soup For The Soul"

In 1989 an 8.2 earthquake almost flattened Armenia, killing over 30,000 people in less than four minutes. In the midst of utter devastation and chaos, a father left his wife secure;y at home and rushed to the school where his son was supposed to be, only to discover that the building was as flat as a pancake. after the traumatic initial shock, he remembered the promise he had made to his son: "No matter what I 'll always be there for you!" And tears began to fill his eyes. As he looked at the pile of debris that once was the school, it looked hopeless, but he kept remembering his commitment to his son.

He began to concentrate on where he walked his son to class at school each morning. Remembering his son's classroom, would be in the back right corner of the building, he rushed there and started digging through the rubble.

As he was digging, other forlorn parents arrived, clutching their hearts, saying "My son! "My daughter!" other well meaning parents tried to pull him off of what was left of the school saying
"It's too late!"
"They're dead!"
"You can't help!"
"Go home!"
"Come on, face reality, there' nothing you can do!" You're just going to make things worse!"
To each parent he responded with one line "Are you going to help me now? And then he proceeded to dig for his son, stone by stone.
The fire chief showed up and tried to pull him off of the school's debris saying "Fires are breaking out, explosions are happening everywhere. You're in danger. we'll take care of it. Go home. "To which this loving, caring Armenian father asked," Are you going to help me now?" The police came and said," You're angry, distraught and it's over. you're endangering others. Go home. We'll handle it!" To which he replied, "Are you going to help me now?" No one helped.
Courageously he proceeded alone because he needed to know for himself: Is my boy alive or is he dead?"
He dug for eight hours.......12 hours........24 hours..........36 hours..............then in the 38th hour, he pulled back a boulder and heard his son's voice. he screamed his son's name, "ARMAND!" He heard back, Dad!?! It's me Dad! I told the other kids not to worry. I told 'em that if you were alive, you'd save me and when you saved me, they'd be saved. you promised, No matter what, I'll always be there for you!" You did it Dad!"
"What's going on in there? How is it?" the father asked.
There are 14 of us left out of 33, Dad. We're scared, hungry, thirsty and thankful you're here. When building collapsed, it made a wedge, like a triangle, and it saved us."
"Come on out, boy!"
"No, Dad! Let the other kids out first, 'cause I know you'll get me! No matter what, I know you'll be there for me!"

Finding Real Communication

Head to head communication is through thoughts and words, while heart to heart communicationis through feelings. People, throughout the ages, have felt that they cannot communicate their feelings. If we could communicate all our feelings through words, then we would be living very shallow lives. Life is rich because feelings cannot be captured in words. So we use all these gesture, we hug,so that hearts come closer, we give flowers, so that feelings are conveyed....we put all our efforts into expressing our feelings..... and still, feelings remain unexpressed.

Soul to soul communication is silence. when we transcend the feeling level, we become still. stillness is at the peak of any experience that'swhy the saying, " Be still...........and know your God".

A bolt from the blue

Two IIM students have been swept away in the choral river. Their parents are grieving and in deep shock. After this news people are saying that it’s IIM’s responsibility to provide security when students go out. I think both students were matured enough and people were also warned them not to swim in the river. But they ignored and finally fished out.

I think we can’t expect security from an institution in such area. It’s a government’s responsibility to provide security and prevent such accidents. Actually it is not first incident in the history of Choral River. Many students drown every year in the river and this is continuously happening for the last three or four years, but government is still sleeping. Government should take steps and provide security in such desolated areas.

There is no doubt that it is favorite joint for youngsters to have fun with friends on weekends and it allures everybody. So we can’t stop people to go there. It would be good if government provide security and some good swimmer also to prevent such accidents.

Forever friend ......I will always care !!!

Forever friend
reach out to me when you feel despair
and when your burdens are too many
the load I will gladly share
and when your heart grows weary
and dark clouds cover you
My friend I will stay beside you until the
sun shines through.
Forever friend,
we have shared so much
a special love we have come to know
we have laughed and cried together and
helped each other in love to grow
Forever friend
within my heart a special place
for you is there
because you are my forever friend and
I will always care.

"You must experience the truth yourself"

"You must experience the truth yourself.
Only then it becomes a truth for you.
Otherwise it is only someone else's truth"

"My Friend when I think of you."

My Friend when I think of you.
I think of all that we've been through. All the times we argue and fight,
I know deep inside that it isn't right.
I, then feel bad and alot of pain.
It feels like I've fallen from the sky like the rain.
I love you dear friend with all of my heart.
But now that you're gone I've fallen apart.
I'm getting better as the days go by.
I wish sometimes this was all a big lie.
I pray to you every night. It's like you're my fire, a burning light.
My dear friend, I miss you alot.
I still wonder why you were put in that spot.
I know you're in a place much better than here.
Watching and helping me with all of my fear.
Our friendship my dear friend,we will have to the end.
Friends till the end is what we will be.
Someday we'll be together,together you and me........truefriend

Heart cries, yet tears don't fall

Heart cries, yet tears don't fall
Around the corner I have a friend
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone
And I never see my old friend's face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell,
And he rang mine...
We were much younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men..
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name..
"Tomorrow" I say, "I will call on Jim"
"Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows..
Around the corner! - yet miles away,
Here's a telegram sir-"
"Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end..
Around the corner, a vanished friend..
If you love someone, tell them...
Remember always to say what you mean..
Never be afraid to express yourself..
Take this opportunity to tell someone
what they mean to you..

Global Family

We accept food from every part of the world, we accept music from every part of the world and we accept technology from every part of the world. Don’t we?

Similarly, if we start accepting wisdom from every part of the world, the world will be a wonderful place to be in. Today’s problems of terrorism and violence will all go away. We only have these problems because we have not globalised human values or wisdom. Don’t you think so?

Every tradition, every part of the world, has brought to this life something that is very precious – Buddha’s teachings, Guru Nanak Dev’s teachings, Mahavir’s teachings, teachings from the Upanishads, the Gita, the Koran, the Bible…… Every religion points towards one thing and that is human values – friendliness, compassion, love. That is what we are……meditation is diving deep into that state of love that we are.

If every child grows up knowing a little bit about every culture, religion and tradition in the world, everyone will feel a sense of belonging with everybody else in the world. There will be broad understanding – a feeling of a global family. Everyone will feel that we are all a part of a one World family.

A glimpse of our own spirit will break down all the little barriers that we create around our self and it will make us feel at home everywhere we go.

I feel at home with everybody anywhere. We’re all one; so what is the big barrier that we create between ourselves?

We also pretend to be something we’re not. We’re all children. Everyone is child. We should get back to that child-like state that we all still have deep within us. Then we’re free, right?

We communicate with everyone, freely. There is no barrier. We shouldn’t think what the other person is thinking. Let anybody think whatever he (or she) wants to think! Why do we have to bother ourselves?

Thoughts are not permanent. They come and go……….

Time........

“Time marches on
But memories stay
Torching us silently
Rest of our days”
